British Council, Dunnhumby, Netcentric, Shire, Virtuagym, GFI Seek Bilingual, High-Tech Candidates

Medellin continues to host a growing number of companies seeking high-tech and bilingual candidates, as indicated in a recent flurry of LinkedIn postings.

Among the opportunities:

1. British Council: This mainly UK government-funded organization is seeking an administrative assistant for its “English for Tourism” program in Medellin.

According to the posting, the candidate for this job would handle purchase orders (POs) and “other procurement tasks” as well as “assist the projects team organizing the correspondence to be sent to clients and stakeholders” and “request quotations from different vendors for assigned projects.”

The candidate also would keep minutes of meetings, “implement student feedback surveys,” maintain a database on project participants and “prepare and submit monthly reports on project participation using the formats supplied by the Subsecrtaria de Turismo.”

In Colombia, the British Council works on projects principally involving English language education and the arts.

“The English for Tourism Project is an important opportunity for us to build on the success of a project in Medellin with the local government in previous years, and to continue developing the level of English in this sector. Thus enhancing our reputation, creating opportunities for employees in the Tourism sector, and positioning us for further contracts in the future,” according to the Council.

2. Dunnhumby: This company is seeking a consumer market analyst for Medellin.

According to the posting, the candidate would help Dunnhumby’s Colombia team “deliver next-generation shopper insights to our CPG [consumer packaged goods] and retail clients” as well as “learn and become an expert in the technical and product foundation of what makes Dunnhumby the global leader in data science.”

The candidate also would “utilize market-leading solutions tools to drive insightful recommendations to manufacturers and retailers, as directed by senior colleagues” and ”support client deliveries from proposal to final delivery stage.”

The job candidate must have “high analytical skills that are capable of extracting insights from our database,” plus a minimum of one-year’s experience in business intelligence/data science project participation, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, systems engineering, knowledge of T-SQL query language basic Unix knowledge and “upper-intermediate English skills (advanced skills would be best),” according to the posting.

3. Netcentric: This company seeks a “senior backend developer” with “strong verbal and written English-language skills” for web applications development in Medellin.

According to the posting, Netcentric describes itself as “Europe’s leading Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions provider.”

“We are looking for exceptionally talented web technology experts to join our growing team in Medellín,” according to Netcentric. “We’re looking for a senior software engineer to lead web development projects for major international customers.”

Candidates must have a “passion for Java, including JEE and Servlets.” The candidate would “lead and coach teams of developers” as well as “estimate development tasks, pointing out risks, required provisions and limitations in the process” as well as “perform regular code reviews and share best practices.”

The job also involves “defining release strategies (including branching, CI and development workflows)” as well as “debugging the whole application stack and define debugging strategies,” according to the company.

4. Shire: This U.S.-based pharmaceutical company is seeking a “manager of market access and public affairs.”

According to the posting, the candidate would “design and implement strategies to build the value proposition from Shire to payers and decision makers, taking into account the life cycle of Shire’s products, the dynamic of the healthcare system, the market opportunities and costumer needs, as well as the compliance and business ethics standards.”

The manager also would “develop effective, productive and long-term relationships with key decision makers at local, regional and national level among payers and healthcare organizations, based on technical knowledge of diseases and impact of therapies.”

Some 60% of the job would involve “managing the relationship with key decision-makers at all organizational levels.” The candidate would “design, implement and assess educational strategies for influencers and decision makers about risk management of high cost conditions” as well as “propose Managed Entry Agreements to develop win to win negotiations with payers, in order to facilitate the treatment initiation and maintenance to the patients. “

The manager also would “provide input to the pricing strategies to be aligned with new policy trends of price based on value.”

The candidate would need to have a “medicine, life sciences or administrative sciences degree” as well as “at least five years’ experience in either health care organizations or pharmaceutical company in the ethical market.”

English ability must be “intermediate to advanced,” according to Shire.

5. Farmfolio: This company is seeking a marketing copy writer “to help grow revenue and product/brand recognition.”

According to the posting, “the successful candidate will collaborate with the product development team to create the marketing and sales strategy and goals for new and existing products.

“The candidate to fill this position will get to travel to majestic farms in South and Central America in order to cover stories and further promote agriculture investments tailored for domestic and foreign institutional investors, family offices, fund managers, agribusiness-related firms, farm owners and operators and retail investors.”

The candidate also would “analyze marketing and sales data to optimize marketing messaging, positioning, and delivery tactics.”

Minimum qualifications include a B.A. in business, marketing, law, English, journalism or related field.” With “minimum three-years’ professional marketing experience” as well as “familiarity with agriculture and South America.”

6. Accenture. This U.S.-based company is seeking a Medellin-based systems application & products (SAP) engineer with “advanced” English skills.

According to the posting, “a professional at this position level within Accenture has the following responsibilities: Analyzes and solves problems that are low complexity and may be routine in nature where answers can be readily obtained; interacts with peers within Accenture before updating supervisors; receives moderate of level instruction on daily work tasks and detailed instructions on new assignments.”

The candidate must have “good financial acumen and financial analysis and diagnosis skills” as well as “proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment,” according to Accenture.

7. Virtuagym: This Neterlands-based software company is seeking a sales account manager in Medellin.

According to the posting, Virtuagym offers “innovative software solutions for consumer health tracking, coaching, scheduling, apps and membership management” for “consumers, personal trainers and health clubs worldwide.”

“With over 7 million users and backed by investors Sanoma Media and Saffelberg Investments, we aim to grow Virtuagym exponentially on both a national and an international level.

The account manager would “follow-up incoming leads” as well as “take incoming calls from prospects” and “provide product training sessions” and “online product demos.”

The candidate must have “strong written and verbal communication skills in English (native-level)” as well as “communication skills in Spanish.”

8. Demand Frontier: This company is seeking a “client success manager” to “create and execute strategies to promote client loyalty . . . to motivate the repeat usage of our products and services.”

According to the posting, "the client success manager will be available follow and comply with our clients’ expectations.”

Minimum skills include a “bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or related” with an “advanced” command of English as well as “knowledge and experience in managing client accounts” and “knowledge and experience in CRM, knowledge and experience in digital marketing (SEO, SEM, social media, community management, e-commerce, inbound marketing, mobile marketing, web analytics, Google analytics” and “knowledge and experience in web-site and marketing content creation in English.”

9. GFI Software: This company is seeking a “customer support engineer” with “excellent” command of both English and Spanish.

According to the posting, “GFI provides security and networking software for small and medium businesses.”

Key responsibilities of the customer support engineer include “communicating effectively with customers, including expectations for callbacks and follow-up on their issues" as well as “handling technical issues of different complexity” and “collaborating with other support teams, engineering and other internal GFI departments to help resolve critical product issues.”

The engineer must be able to “read and interpret product log files” as well as “cross-train on multiple technologies to effectively support GFI product portfolio.”

The candidate must have a “strong” information technology (IT) background, "with at least three years working experience on the following areas: networking; active directory; Windows server operating systems; Exchange Server and SQL,” according to the company.

10. BMC Software: This company is seeking a software sales account manager for its Medellin office.

According to the posting, the candidate would be “responsible for managing and penetrating strategic accounts, especially in the Medellin area.”

The manager would be “responsible for managing and growing territory, maximizing short term revenue, and building a future sales pipeline through demonstrated account and territory planning.”

The manager must have an “ability to work with a sales consulting team and ecosystem of BMC in closing complex opportunities at the C-level” and be “capable of closing software contracts and services in the range of $25,000 to over $1 million.”
