Medellin International Jazz Festival Launches September 15 to October 8
Medellin’s 20th annual International Jazz Festival launches September 15 featuring top artists including Cuco Valoy, Bobby Valentin, Havana D’Primera and many others.
According to festival organizer MedeJazz (see: http://www.festivalmedejazz.com/public_html/), musicians from Italy, Cuba, Dominican Republic, USA, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia will take stages around the city in performances through October 8.
Among the USA-based musicians jointly presenting a Latin-jazz reportoire are Justo Almario, Pete Escovedo, Airto Moreira, Abraham Laboriel, Julio Padrón, Jimmy Branley and Kiefer Shackelford, while Steve Turre, Greg Diamond and Héctor Martignon will be featured in a separate performance.
The four host stages for performances include the University of Medellin Theatre, the Plazoleta Gardel at the downtown Olaya Herrera airport, the Carolina del Principe Main Plaza and the Gran Salon at Plaza Mayor.
