Huawei, Astound Expanding High-Tech Jobs, Investments at Ruta N
Medellin’s high-tech development center Ruta N announced December 7 that San Francisco-based web and e-commerce developer Astound Commerce has opened a new office here -- and aims to generate 50 to 100 new programming jobs over the next 12 months.
Astound’s total investment at Ruta N is estimated at US$1.5 million to US$3 million. The company is targeting mainly U.S. and European customers for its services.
Globally, Astound employs some 500 engineers in web-design and e-commerce projects for major corporate clients including Adidas, Hugo Boss, L’Oreal, Tommy Hilfiger and Versace, according to the company.
On a related front, Chinese technology giant Huawei announced December 2 that it is likewise expanding its high-tech footprint at Ruta N, with some 100 technical workers to be hired at a new “Center of Innovation and Business.”
Huawei didn’t disclose the total estimated value of the new investment.
Besides pursuing tech development, Huawei also will continue expanding its “high-capacity” mobile and fixed telecom networks, according to a joint press statement from Huawei and Ruta N.
