Grupo Éxito 2Q 2025 Net Income Soars Year-on-Year

Medellin-based multinational supermarket giant Grupo Éxito announced August 13 a second quarter (2Q) 2025 net profit of COP$146.8 billion (US$36 million), a huge reversal from the COP$18.7 billion (US$4.6 million) net loss in 2Q 2024.
Sales rose 2.4% year-over-year, to COP$4.87 trillion (US$1.21 billion), while recurring earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 32% year-on-year, to COP$452 billion (US$112 million), according to the company.
As for first half (1H) 2025, Grupo Éxito’s COP$240 billion (US$59.5 million) net income “represented the highest level recorded by the company in the last decade for the same [1H] period,” according to the company.
“Grupo Éxito’s consolidated results reflect solid sales performance of its operations in Colombia and Uruguay, improved profitability in its retail operations in Colombia, as well as the strong performance and consistent results of its real estate business,” according to the company.
Consolidated recurring EBITDA generated an historic second-quarter margin of 8.7% — a 32.3% increase compared to 2Q 2024, according to Éxito.
“This is a result of consistent commercial and operational improvements quarter after quarter — primarily in Colombia, where its EBITDA grew by 50.8% — and strength of its operations in Uruguay,” according to the company.
“The results of our retail, real estate, and complementary businesses such as ‘Tuya’ and ‘Puntos Colombia’ in Colombia stand out, as does the solid performance of our operations in Uruguay, which offset the results in Argentina, which faced significant challenges in its retail business.
“The Colombian operation represented 76% of the Group’s consolidated operating revenue, growing 6.8% in the second quarter and 4.6% in the first half.
“Likewise, the Uruguayan and Argentine operations generated revenues of COP$1.3 trillion [US$322 million] in the second quarter and represented 24% of the company’s consolidated revenues,” the company added.
