Grupo Éxito Full-Year 2025 Net Income Rises 10-Fold Year-on-Year
Medellin-based multinational supermarket giant Grupo Éxito announced February 25 a 10-fold year-on-year hike in net profit, hitting COP$592 billion (US$159 million) for full-year 2025, versus COP$54.8 billion (US$14.5 million) in 2024.
Revenues rose by a more modest 4% year-on-year, to COP$22 trillion (US$5.9 billion), while recurrent earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 19.5%, to COP$1.9 trillion (US$511 million), according to the company.
The huge boost in profits “was driven by solid sales and competitiveness, improvement in operating and commercial results, disciplined execution of efficiency and productivity plans, and a greater contribution from complementary businesses,” according to Éxito.
“Colombia served as the main driver of the group’s consolidated revenues, with a contribution of 77%,” with the non-food category “standing out, growing 7.7% versus 2024. The operations in Uruguay and Argentina contributed the remaining 23%,” according to Éxito.
Colombia and Uruguay store profits “offset the weaker performance in Argentina,” while lower, non-recurring expenses and financial costs “as well as the contribution from complementary businesses — mainly real estate — registered an increase of 11.3% in rental income,” according to Éxito.
“Revenues [in Colombia] reached COP$16.9 trillion [US$4.55 billion], growing 4% compared to 2024, driven by sales and a solid performance of the non-food segment that presented a growth of 7.7%
“Moreover, the food category grew 2.9%, [while] same-store sales also registered a growth of 5.6%. Digital channels reached more than COP$2.3 trillion [US$619 million], with a 14.1% share of the company’s sales in Colombia,” Éxito added.
