Isagen 2Q 2026 Net Income Doubles Year-on-Year

Medellin-based renewable electric-power-generation giant Isagen announced August 13 that its second quarter (2Q) 2026 net income rose 112% year-on-year, to COP$120 billion (US$38.5 million), from COP$56.7 billion (US$14 million) in 2Q 2025.

Revenues in 2Q 2026 also rose 34% year-on-year, to COP$1.5 trillion (US$481 million), versus COP$1.3 trillion (US$281 million) in 2Q 2025.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) also rose 30% year-on-year, to COP$894 billion (US$286 million)., verus COP$687 billion (US$171 million) in 2Q 2025.

“In the second quarter [2026], gross profit increased by 33%, mainly due to higher revenues resulting from better energy prices on the [Colombian electric-power trading] exchange, partially offset by higher transaction costs on the exchange compared to the same period of the previous year,” according to Isagen.

Gross profits on power sales during 2Q 2026 rose “mainly due to higher interest income on loans from financial institutions, resulting from higher disbursements during the first quarter of 2026,” according to Isagen.

Still, Isagen was affected by “loss in the valuation of foreign exchange derivatives as of June 2026, explained by [Colombian peso versus U.S. dollar] exchange rate volatility,” the company added.
