Isagen 3Q 2025 Net Income Dips 29% Year-on-Year

Medellin-based renewable electric power producer Isagen announced November 13 that its third quarter (3Q) 2025 net income dipped 29% year-on-year, to COP$204 billion (US$54 million), versus COP$288 billion (US$76 million) in 3Q 2024.

Revenues also dipped 18% year-on-year, to COP$1.29 trillion (US$343 million), versus COP$1.57 trillion (US$418 million) in 23Q 2024.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) likewise declined 10% year-on-year, to COP$820 billion (US$218 million), from COP$911 billion (US$242 million) in 3Q 2024.

“In the third quarter of this year, gross profit on sales decreased by 10%, mainly due to lower energy prices on the wholesale market, which were offset by lower operating costs resulting from reduced energy purchases on the wholesale market,” according to Isagen.

As for a dip in financial income, “the decrease is primarily attributable to lower interest income on a loan with related parties, due to its cancellation in December 2024,” according to the company.

As for taxation impacts during 3Q 2025, “these correspond to the variation in [U.S. dollar to Colombian peso] exchange rates during the latest quarter on debt and deposits in foreign currency. It also corresponds to the lower profit generated in this quarter, in addition to a higher deduction for investment in productive fixed assets,” the company added.

Isagen operates 27 electric power generation plants in Colombia’s departments of Antioquia, Atlántico, Caldas, Guajira, Meta, Santander, and Tolima, with a net effective output capacity of more than 3.140 gigawatts (GW), making it the third-largest power generator in Colombia.

Of those 27 plants, 15 are hydroelectric, 0 are solar photovoltaic and the remaining two are wind-power plants.
