Grupo Éxito 1Q 2026 Profits Jump 71% Year-on-Year
Medellin-based multinational supermarket and dry-goods retailer Grupo Éxito announced May 13 a 71% year-on-year hike in first quarter (1Q) 2026 net income, hitting COP$159 billion (US$43 million), versus COP$93 billion (US$25 million) in 1Q 2025.
Sales rose by a more modest 1.1% year-on-year, to COP$5.2 trillion (US$1.43 billion), verus COP$5.1 trillion (US$1.4 billion) in 1Q 2025.
Recurring earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) jumped 16% year-on-year, to COP$430 billion (US$118 million), according to the company.
Even when excluding the effect of exchange rates versus the Colombian peso, net income for 1Q 2026 was still 64.6% higher year-on-year, the company noted.
“Grupo Éxito’s consolidated net revenues grew 3.5% excluding the exchange rate effect, reaching COP$5.5 trillion [US$1.5 billion], of which 76% came from operations in Colombia, where the non-food category stood out, growing 10.1% compared to the first quarter of 2025,” according to the company.
The operations in Uruguay and Argentina contributed the remaining 24% of revenues.
Strength in recurring EBITDA “is explained by the performance of Colombia and Uruguay, which offset the weaker performance in Argentina, as well as by the contribution of complementary businesses, primarily real estate,” according to Éxito.
