Netcentric Boosting High-Tech Hiring in Medellin

Investment promotion agency Agencia de Cooperación e Inversión de Medellín (ACI Medellín) announced November 17 that Switzerland-based software developer Netcentric aims to boost hiring dramatically in Medellin over the next four years.

The hiring plan – which would boost employment by 150 to 300 more positions – would drastically expand Netcentric’s current 10-employee base at the Ruta N high-tech center in Medellin, according to ACI.

Netcentric director Mike McCrae is seeking local, national and international talent “to fortify Netcentric operations in the region, which will service the European and North American markets,” according to ACI.

The company just launched operations in Medellin in October 2015, but expects to expand its employee base to 90 next year and then triple that count in the coming four years.

The talent search initially is focused upon senior engineers with experience in Java and JavaScript, but in a second phase the company will require younger engineers, according to ACI.

“We have found a great talent base here in information technology, great support from institutions such as ProColombia and ACI Medellin, and also from the universities here. Medellin has the infrastructure, connectivity and a cost-of-living that is very competitive and meets the needs of what our company is seeking,” McCrae added.

Aiding the company’s launch here, ACI Medellín helped Netcentric make connections with local universities, with recruitment agencies, with law firms and with Ruta N, according to the agency.
