Isagen 2Q 2025 Net Income Dips 1% Year-on-Year

Medellin-based electric-power-generation giant Isagen announced August 14 that its second quarter (2Q) net income dipped by a slight 1% year-on-year, to COP$56.7 billion (US$14.1 million), from COP$57.5 billion (US$14.3 million) in 2Q 2024.
Operating income also dipped 8% year-on-year, to COP$1.13 trillion (US$281 million), while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) declined 9%, to COP$687 billion (US$171 million).
“The accumulated energy demand of [Colombia’s] National Interconnected System (SIN) during the second quarter 2025 was 20,685 gigawatt-hours [Gwh], 1.9% higher than the 20,295 GWh recorded in the same period in 2024,” according to Isagen
Also during 2Q 2025, hydroelectric power contributions to the SIN were 38% above the historical average, while the aggregate level of the hydropower reservoirs closed 12% below the historical average.
The mainly hydroelectric power profile of Isagen produced 4,346 GWh during 2Q 2025, “47.4% higher than the same period last year, due to higher water contributions during the quarter,” according to the company.
Also during 2Q 2025, “gross profit on sales increased by 27%, primarily due to a decrease in operating costs due to the lower quarterly energy price on the [SIN electric power] stock exchange compared to the same period in 2024,” according to the company.
