Tigo-UNE Full-Year 2025 Profits Skyrocket Year-on-Year
Medellin-based telecom/internet/cable-TV giant Tigo-UNE — until just weeks ago, half-owner of the Colombian subsidiary of Spain-based multinational telecom network provider Millicom – on March 27 announced a whopping 1,500% year-on-year hike in full-year 2025 net income, hitting COP$242 billion (US$65 million), from COP$15 billion (US$4.08 million) in 2024.
Revenues also rose by a much-more-modest 3.7%, to COP$5.6 trillion (US$1.5 billion), versus COP$5.4 trillion (US$1.47 billion) in 2024.
Following EPM’s sale of its stake in Tigo-UNE to partner Millicom, remaining minority shareholders of Tigo-UNE are expected to complete sale of their shares to Millicom in April — leaving Millicom as Tigo-Colombia’s sole owner (see Medellín Herald February 6, 2026).
As a result, Millicom-Tigo soon will have a national share of the Colombian telecom-internet-cable TV market exceeding 40%, putting it on par with Mexico-based Claro’s telecom marketshare in Colombia.
Millicom-Tigo’s bolstered market-share will enable “advanced digital services and accelerate the nationwide rollout of fiber and 5G, resulting in faster, more reliable connectivity and an enhanced customer experience,” according to Millicom.
