Nutresa 1H 2026 Net Income Plummets 89% Year-on-Year
Medellin-based multinational foods giant Grupo Nutresa announced August 6 that its first half (1H) 2026 net income fell 89% year-on-year, to COP$78 billion (US$24 million), versus COP$ 718 billion (US$227 million) in 1H 2025.
However, “adjusted for non-recurring expenses and unrealized exchange rate differences,” net income for 1H 2026 actually rose 36% year-on-year, to COP$724 billion (US$229 million), according to the company.
“The difference between the two [net income] figures lies in the hedges of dollar-denominated debt,” according to Nutresa.
As for 1H 2026 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), Nutresa reported a 32% year-on-year improvement, to COP$2.0 trillion (US$632 million)l, according to the company.
As for revenues, 1H 2026 were 2.4% higher year-on-year, at COP$10.3 trillion (US$3.2 billion), according to the company.
“In Colombia, [1H 2026] revenues reached COP$6.6 trillion [US$2.08 billion], a 13% increase compared to the same period of the previous year,” according to Nutresa.
Meanwhile, international revenues in U.S. dollars remained stable at just over US$1 billion, a 0.4% increase, according to the company.
However, “converted to Colombian pesos, this [international revenues] figure is COP$3.7 trillion, a 12.4% decrease resulting from the 12.9% revaluation of the local [Colombian] currency against the U.S. dollar,” the company noted.
Also during 1H 2026, Nutresa “finalized agreements to acquire two companies: La Universal, a leader in the chocolate sector in Ecuador, and Tio Rico, a leader in the ice cream category in Venezuela. We also received regulatory approval and completed the acquisition of the Mimos ice cream chain in Colombia,” the company added.
