ISA 1Q 2025 Net Income Rises 10% Year-on-Year

Medellin-based multinational electric-power transmitter, highways concessionaire and telecom operator ISA announced May 6 that its first quarter (1Q) 2025 net income rose 10% year-on-year, to COP$695 billion (US$161 million).

Revenues likewise rose 9% year-on-year, to COP$4.01 trillion (US$932 million), while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 8% year-on-year, to COP$2.4 trillion (US$557 million), the company added.

Brazil accounted for 43% of ISA’s total 1Q 2025 revenues, with Colombia adding 25%, while and Chile and Peru contributed 15% each, the company noted.

The rise in 1Q 2025 net income is “mainly explained by the entry into operation of new projects and the positive impact of contract escalators,” according to ISA.

“Operationally, in Brazil, ISA was awarded 18 power grid reinforcement and improvement projects, while in Chile, the company won the ‘Nuevo Las Palmas-Centella’ power-transmisión Flow-control system project, with an investment of US$84 million.

“In road concessions, ISA agreed with the Chilean Ministry of Public Works to build a ‘Free Flow’ system on the ‘Ruta del Maipo’ concesión,” the company added.

During 1Q 2025, “investments totaling COP$1.4 trillion [US$325 million] were executed across ISA’s three business lines, demonstrating its execution capacity, up from COP$988 billion [US$229 million] executed during 1Q 2024,” focused on “construction in power transmission and road concessions, which will add approximately 5,432 kilometers of power lines and 296 kilometers of roads,” the company explained.

As for its regional capex distributions during 1Q 2025, “Colombia accounted for 21% of ISA’s investments, with progress on projects awarded by [government power-project regulator] UPME and connection projects currently under construction,” according to ISA.

“Brazil accounted for 59% [of 1Q 2025 capex], with progress on 179 transmission grid reinforcements and six projects tendered and awarded by [government power regulator] ANEEL in previous periods.”

Chile accounted for another 9% of ISA’s 1Q 2025 capex, the company added.
