ISA 1Q 2026 Net Income Falls 20% Year-on-Year
Medellin-based multinational electric-power transmission operator, highways concessionaire and telecom-internet operator ISA announced May 6 that its first quarter (1Q) net income fell 20% year-on-year, to COP$558 billion (US$150 million), versus COP$695 billion (US$161 million) in 1Q 2025.
Operating revenues also declined 4% year-on-year, to COP$3.8 trillion (US$1.02 billion), versus COP$4.01 trillion (US$1.08 billion) in 1Q 2025, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) fell 9% year-on-year, to COP$2.2 trillion (US$592 million), versus COP$2.4 trillion (US$646 million) in 1Q 2025.
“From a financial perspective, the results reflect a challenging macroeconomic environment,” according to ISA.
“These variations are mainly explained by the slower growth of contract escalators, which affected the monetary correction adjustment of contract and financial assets especially in Brazil and Chile; in addition to the conversion effect resulting from the strengthening of the Colombian peso against other currencies in the region.”
As for new developments during 1Q 2026, ISA “executed investments of COP$1.5 trillion [US$403 million], a 10% increase compared to 1Q 2025, primarily concentrated in power transmission, a business that represented 93% of the period’s investments,” according to the company.
“In Brazil, 19 reinforcements, upgrades, and grid connections came online; The Jacarandá project was commissioned, and Block 2 of the Piraquê project, a 500 kV transmission line that strengthens the electrical system in Minas Gerais, was energized. Together with Block 1, this enables 91.5% of the project’s ‘Allowable Annual Revenue.’
“In Colombia, ISA energized the connection to the Atlántico Photovoltaic Solar Park and a project to improve the electrical reliability of Ecopetrol’s Barrancabermeja oil refinery.
“These advances are complemented by new growth opportunities: 46 expansions in Brazil, expressions of interest in expansion projects for the Caribbean Region in Colombia, and the best bid submitted by ‘ISA Vias’ for the Río Bueno – Puerto Montt [highway] concession in Chile,” the company added.
