Iberia Launches Nonstop Medellin-Madrid Flights in March

Spanish airline Iberia announced November 24 that it will launch three-times-a-week, nonstop service between Medellin’s international airport and Madrid starting March 26 – hence eliminating the current stop in Cali, Colombia.

The flights will employ the new A330-200 Airbus planes – 269 seats in tourist-class section and 19 seats in the business-class section, according to Iberia.

“With the new nonstop Iberia flights to and from Medellin, Iberia will offer around 90,000 seats per year on the route, which means a notable increase in the offer compared to the current service shared with Cali,” according to the airline.

The new planes will include wifi internet service in all cabin classes, as well as a choice of 50 movies, 400 music channels and video-games, according to Iberia.

Medellin continues to see large increases in international tourism as well as ever-more non-stop international flight options (see “Non-Stop International Flights to Medellin: Delta, VivaColombia Latest Entries,” Medellin Herald, November 16, 2015).
