Medellin Bird Festival 2016 includes Birding Trip Packages to Jardin, Rio Claro

The 2016 edition of the annual Festival de Aves de Medellin organized by the Sociedad Antioqueña de Ornitologia (SAO) this year includes three birding-trip packages to spectacular sites – two in Jardin, and one in Rio Claro, all in Antioquia.

The five-day festival — October 26 to October 31 – includes two-days/two-nights weekend trips including transport, lodging, food and expert bird guides, departing Medellin on Saturday evening October 29 and returning to Medellin on Monday October 31.

Among this year’s Festival highlights:

1). An invitation-only cocktail reception at the opening event at Teatro Pablo Tobon Uribe (to request an invitation, send an email to: direccion@sao.org.co);

2). A presentation on the annual Christmas bird counts by Audubon Society researcher Gloria Lentijo;

3).  A multi-media presentation on the incredible birds, music, art and poetry of the Orinoco region by La Aurora Reserve founder/naturalist/poet Nelson Barragan; and

4). A panel discussion on promoting and protecting urban natural areas, featuring World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Colombia researcher Luis German Naranjo, Medellin environment secretary Oscar Hoyos and pioneering environmental educator Edgar Hoyos.
