Industrias Estra 1H 2025 Profits Barely Rise Year-on-Year

Medellin-based industrial/consumer plastic-products manufacturer Industrias Estra announced in an August 22 filing with Colombia’s Superfinanciera oversight agency that its first-half (1H) 2025 net income rose 250% year-on-year — but only to a very modest COP$112 million (US$28,000), from COP$33 million (US$8,225) in 1H 2024.
Revenues also rose 11% year-on-year, to COP$49.5 billion (US$12.3 million), from COP$44 billion (US$10.9 million) in 2Q 2024.
The revenue hike came “as a result of the implemented commercial strategy,” but “cost-of-goods-sold showed a material increase,” and “administrative and selling expenses showed a material increase — directly related to the higher sales volume and associated variable costs,” according to Estra.
In addition, “the property, plant, and equipment account showed a material decrease compared to the previous year, as a result of the write-off of assets due to the end of their useful lives and the absence of new investments.”
On the other hand, Estra’s financial obligations have declined as a result of “amortization of debt and non-acquisition of new commitments, which in turn reduced financial expenses due to lower interest payments,” the company added.
