Among recent job postings in Medellin advertised in LinkedIn:

1. BMC: Software Account Manager.

This salesperson would be “responsible for managing and penetrating strategic accounts, especially in the Medellin area,” according to BMC.

The candidate must have “ability to work with a sales consulting team and ecosystem of BMC in closing complex opportunities at the C-Level” and be able to “partner with other business units in identifying other opportunities outside your core product portfolio,” according to the posting.

The candidate also must be “capable of closing software contracts and services in the range of $25K to over $1M+.”

BMC seeks candidates with “seven-plus years selling software related products and services” and a “quantifiable sales track record demonstrated by increasing responsibilities, growth in territory and quota” as well as “ established contacts, rolodex and intimate knowledge of assigned territory” as well as “experience working in a multi-tiered and multi-divisional corporation.”

2. Accenture Colombia: Project and Management Consultant. 

The candidate must be a professional in industrial or management engineering, with at least five years experience in project management.

The candidate must reside in Medellin, have an “advanced” command of English and be available for travel, according to Accenture.

Accenture describes itself as a global management consultant and provider of technology and outsourcing, with 385,000 employees in more than 120 countries. The company reported net sales of US$31 billion in its fiscal year ending August 2015. .

3. Accenture Colombia: Programming Analyst.

The company is seeking a software programming analyst in Medellin for .NET and Click software systems.

The candidate must be a professional systems engineer with at least two to three years experience in software development in .NET or implementation of Click software for utilities or energy companies.

The candidate must reside in Medellín or “be willing to be assigned to Medellin for the duration of the project,” according to Accenture.

4. Grupo Orbis: Project Management Office (PMO) Analyst.

Grupo Orbis is seeking a chemical engineer with Project Management Professional (PMP) specialization with an internationally recognized professional designation as offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

The candidate must have at least two years experience in administration and project execution, knowledge of chemical-industry process, an “average” command of English and an “advanced” command of Excel, according to Orbis.

The candidate must be able to invove project leaders in order to “guarantee the correct use of tools and documentation of the projects en a system that permits  traceability and compliance with client commitments” as well as “development of concepts of sustainability and ensurance of inclusion in projects,” according to Orbis.

Orbis subsidiaries include the “Pintuco” paint manufacturer, the “Andercol” chemical company and the “O-Tek” water technology company.   

5. Indra Colombia: OSM/OSSquick Sofware Developer.

Indra Colombia (Medellín) is seeking candidates with at least three years of software development experience and at least one-year experience in Oracle OSM/OSS, as well as “advanced knowledge in object-oriented programming” plus “technical English” command.

The job requires “participation in international projects with multicultural or local teams.”

Indra describes itself as “Spain’s leading consulting and technology multinational and one of the most prominent in Europe and Latin America. The company provides business solutions, IT services and comprehensive systems to clients all over the world.:

In 2014, Indra posted revenue of €2.94 billion and had 39,000 employees, a local presence in 46 countries and projects in 149 countries.

6. Viventura: Senior Programmer Developer.

Viventura’s “head of IT” in Medellin is looking for a candidate with “very good experience in web development to work on different projects through scrum methodology,” according to the posting.

“The new programmer should be a responsible, self-taught person thus committed with each project assigned to his. During the daily, review, retrospective meetings there is constant interaction with stakeholders from offices in Germany, Peru and Bolivia so it’s important to have a good level of English and very good communication skills.”

The candidate would be responsible for designing data-model, user interface (optimized frontend considering loading time) business logic according to new system requirements” as well as “defining system architecture so we can archive best performance of web site (first request and cached system)” and “take into account server-side frameworks, client-side frameworks.”

The candidate also would be responsible for “developing web site responsive according to requirements of UI/UX defined by designer” and “participating actively of each scrum meeting in order to grow knowledge of methodology and to be able to become scrum master in short term.”

Viventura describes itself as a “tour operator specializing in tours to South America. Founded in Germany in 2001, a second office was founded a few weeks later in Arequipa, Peru. We provide high quality travel services to over 2,000 travelers a year.”


7: Demand Frontier: Project Manager.

According to the posting, the Project Manager (PM) “defines the value proposition, work plan, resource needs, timeline and budget for projects” as well as “manages resources (i.e. capital requirements and human capital) to achieve the project objectives on time, within scope, and on budget.”

The PM also would “ensure the ongoing process/system capabilities associated with projects and manage any changes required to meet or exceed the expectations established in project designs” as well as “directs the activities of consultants, analysts, specialists and sub-contractors.”

The PM also “may  be responsible for Project Management Office (PMO) activities such as methodology development, project quality assurance and competency development, according to Demand Frontier.

The candidate must have four to six years of relevant experience, PMP or PRINCE2 certification, experience with implementation of SAP and/or Oracle, a “strong understanding of IT Project Management principles and techniques,” as well as “solid proficiency in the specific tools that are available and required as part of the company’s project management information system.”

Demand Frontier describes itself as an IT service company that provides “both onshore and near shore delivery capabilities through operations in Austin, Houston, and a robust delivery center in Medellin Colombia. Our deep experience and relationships in Texas and Colombia, and the technology sectors we support, allow us to build talent pools to address the labor shortage across the technology landscape.”

8. Unilever Colombia: Strategic Sales Analyst.

The candidate would be in charge of data analysis, commercial management and sales strategies in the “door to door” market, according to the announcement.

Key responsibilities include meeting monthly sales goals, managing and controlling inventories, and evaluating customer orders for Unilever products. :

The candidate must have completed university studies in areas such as administration, industrial engineering, marketing and international business, with at least two years’ experience in analyzing door-to-door sales.

A basic command of English is required along with intermediate or advanced command of Excel, according to the announcement.


9. Choice Technologies: Financial Manager. Choice Technologies describes itself as a “leading computational intelligent-solutions provider for the energy sector” as well as a provider of “geospatial intelligence, smart metering implementation prioritization and smart grid applications.”

The candidate would be “accountable for the administrative, financial and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results,” according to the posting.

The candidate also would “assist in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives” as well as “monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans [and] develop financial and tax strategies.”

In addition, the candidate would “manage the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments” as well as “oversee the financial operations of subsidiaries companies and foreign operations.”

Candidates must have an accounting or business administration degree, “or equivalent business experience and five years of progressively responsible experience.”

As for language skills, “English is mandatory and Portuguese is desirable,” according to the announcement.
