High-Tech Job Opportunities Expand in Medellin; IBM, Dassault among Recruiters

Job opportunities in high-tech sectors in Medellin continue to expand, with major global companies including IBM and Dassault among those seeking information technology (IT) specialists.

Among Medellin jobs posted this month to LinkedIn web sites include these opportunities:

1. IBM: Project Manager (first position, see here) and Business Architect (second position, see here).

The “project manager” will be “responsible for leading a project team in delivering a solution to the client using the appropriate business measurements and terms and conditions for the project according to the project charter, project agreement or contract,” according to IBM.

“They have overall performance responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, and contractual deliverables, which includes applying techniques for planning, tracking, change control, and risk management. They are responsible for managing all project resources, including subcontractors, and for establishing an effective communication plan with the project team and the client. They provide day to day direction to the project team and regular project status to the client.”

As for the “business architect,” this person will “focus on the structural and behavior-producing aspects of businesses,” according to IBM.

“They address the business aspects of solutions and solution components through systemic analysis of, for example, business value, role-players, culture, components, information, processes, locations, etc. They mobilize and orchestrate IBM and third-party experts and communities of practice to provide rigorous conceptual leadership for the projects and ongoing relationships that deliver client business intent.

“They do this by analyzing and prescribing coordinated business and technical design decisions to deliver the promised value. Through holistic views and models they assess overlaps, dependencies, stakeholder impact, and business and technical risk across various business initiatives,” according to the company

2. Dassault Systems: Sales Representative (see here).


This person will “identify and close new business opportunities in assigned accounts to increase 3DS footprint and deliver revenue plan” as well as “sell 3DS value and strategic vision by promoting industry fundamentals and/or brand promises to get customer commitment on a long-term business transformation,” according to Dassault.

The candidate is expected to have a BS degree and at least five years of  “successful software solution sales experience,” according to the company

3. XumaK: Senior User Experience (UX) Designer (see here).

“We are seeking for rock solid Senior UX Designer with strong interests and expert capabilities in the design and development of engaging user experiences, with a profound knowledge of what makes a successful website to join our team,” according to XumaK.

Job responsibilities including “creating cutting edge experiences; helping drive team building and collaboration; information architecture definition; content strategy definition; visual design definition and execution; interaction design definition and execution; design effort level scoping (LOE, SOW and proposals); contributing to client relationships as needed per project need; collaborating on user experience planning with a lead experience architect; competitive benchmark analysis; researching interaction design trends; [and] researching technology trends,” according to the company.

The candidate is expected to have at least five years of UX design experience including experience in “web applications which leverage emergent technologies, consumer electronics and/or mobile devices, applying a ‘mobile first’ philosophy,” according to the company.

Unisys Nabs EPM Cybersecurity Deal

On a related front, global high-tech corporation Unisys announced November 17 that it won a renewed contract from Medellin-based utilities giant EPM for cybersecurity services for more than 2,000 EPM devices, firewalls, servers and applications.

“Unisys has been providing cybersecurity services to EPM in Colombia since 2014, including event and device management, as well as identification, classification and remediation of security incidents,” according to the company.

“To perform this work successfully, Unisys leverages its lauded security operations centers, its ‘BeATo’ benchmark assessment tool and its Unisys Noise Cancellation Advanced Analytics Platform (‘UNCAAP’ to efficiently monitor and correlate over 140 million security events on a daily basis across EPM.”
