International Mining Fair Comes to Medellin October 28-30

National industrial trade association Andi announced that Medellin will host the 11th annual “Colombia Minera” International Mining Fair October 28-30 in the Plaza Mayor conference center.

“The end of the super cycle of commodity prices, the changing global macroeconomic scenario and regulatory changes have created a different business environment in the mining area,” according to Andi.

To address these issues, the Fair – covering 15,000 square meters at Plaza Mayor, with some 300 stands — offers exhibitors, visitors and speakers “a unique opportunity to obtain a better positioning in the changing world of production of mineral raw materials,” according to Andi.

Andi expects more than 16,000 attendees at this year’s fair, with speakers, delegates and exhibitors from more than 25 countries, including Australia, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Mexico and the United States.

The Fair brings together mining companies, mineral and metal producers, industry suppliers of goods and services, investors and top government officials involved in mining policy and regulation.

Featured speakers on the agenda for this year’s event include: Cecilia Álvarez-Correa, Colombia’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism; Tomás González Estrada, Colombia’s Minister of Mines and Energy; Andi president Bruce Mac Master; Fedemetal board president Jorge Alberto Sierra Giraldo; UPME general director Jorge Valencia Marín; CREG director Jorge Pinto Noalla; EPM general manager Juan Esteban Calle and many others.
